David Short

In the mid- 90s, David Short recognized that there was a need in the marketplace for physicians to overcome the complications associated with prescribing across multiple controlled managed health care formularies. Another growing concern was the demand for physicians to reduce medical errors associated with patient prescriptions.

In 1997, David founded Prescriber Solutions® to assist physicians in becoming more efficient through the use of the PSI-MedConnect System™, a handheld, browser- based electronic prescribing tool that David has been developing for the past five years. David is currently the president and CIO for Prescriber Solutions®.

David has been a systems analyst, senior programmer and consultant in the software and health care industry since 1982. In 1996, as CIO of the pharmacy division of Clinidata Medical Solutions (subsidiary of Hoechst Marion Roussel), David was responsible for the complete system design and successful implementation of a Client/ Server and Radio Frequency based Physician Data Management System. He has remained current in the managed care and pharmacy risk industry. David has created and maintained systems for Citicorp, General Electric, the United States Air Force, the San Diego Unified Port District, Qualcomm, the University of California and others. Additionally, he has managed clinical trial applications for Agouron and Gensia Pharmaceuticals.

While at Gensia, he created a Regulatory Document Tracking system that tracked FDA required documents through each phase of new drug development. He also designed a "Hypertext" feature that was included in Gensia's Computer Aided New Drug Application software used by the FDA to assist in the new drug approval process. He created and maintained a Pharmaceutical Repackaging Facility system for Affiliated Pharmacy Technologies Incorporated. David is known for his innovative, easy to use, functional and customer driven system designs.
